There are multiple editions of the ‘Guide’, some which deal with specific issues such as housing or credit.     RECOURSE offers community members ways to work through disagreements together, in an atmosphere of respect, by providing mediation and education services, regardless of how little they can pay.

  • Resources Connection
    The Resource Connection, formerly Human Resources Council (HRC), is a 29-year-old Amador and Calaveras based nonprofit organization providing services and programs in three critical areas: children and families, nutrition, and prevention and intervention. The Resource Connection is governed by a volunteer board of directors and staffed by 170 employees at 16 sites throughout the two counties.

  • Riverside County Department of Community Action
    Mediates disputes in the following areas: landlord/tenant, harassment, neighbor disputes, small claims, employment, domestic, consumer/business and senior issues. Also assists low-income households with utilities. Other programs include notary, tatoo removal, mentoring, apprenticeship programs and IDA savings-matching.

  • San Francisco Rent Stabilization and Arbitration Board (Rent Board)
    Contact with questions about rent control in San Francisco. It may investigate reports of wrongful eviction as defined by city rent laws. This is an agency of the City/County of S.F.

  • San Francisco Tenants Union
    Advises tenants on their rights. Publishes "San Francisco Tenants' Rights Handbook" and "Tenant Times." Drop-in counseling for non-members; phone counseling for members only. Assistance in tenant organizing. Call for hours.

  • Sonoma County - Housing Authority
    The Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program is authorized under Section 8 of the United States Housing Act of 1937 and amended by the Quality Housing and Work Responsibility Act of 1998.   • Sonoma County Adult and Aging Services
    The Adult and Aging Services Division of Sonoma County works with individuals and the community to ensure the safety and well-being of vulnerable adults.   • Sonoma County Assessor's Office
    The Sonoma County Assessor's Office is responsible for determining the assessed value of each parcel for property tax purposes in accordance with California's property tax laws.

  • Sonoma County Community Development Commission
    The CDC administers a range of programs designed to assist low to moderate income homeowners and tenants and to encourage commercial revitalization. Rental assistance is offered to lower income tenants through subsidized rents. Rehabilitation loans are offered to landlords to maintain existing affordable rental units. Lower income owner-occupants are provided financial assistance to rehabilitate their home.
