The Consumer Services Guide is searchable directory of resources which can help you with consumer problems and questions. There are multiple editions of the ‘Guide’, some which deal with specific issues such as housing or credit.   • Hawaii - Attorney General

  • Hawaii - Better Business Bureau (BBB)
    Contact for pre-purchase inquiry and complaint information on local businesses. Takes complaints on companies and arbitrates problems and disputes. Monitors and reviews local advertising and tracks and reports on charitable organizations.

  • Hawaii - Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs
    The Office of Consumer Protection (OCP), within the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, investigates consumer complaints in unfair or deceptive trade practices in advertising, refunds, motor vehicle rentals, door-to-door sales and credit practices. OCP is also responsible for the Landlord Tennant code and provides assistance to both landlords and tenants.

  • Hawaii - Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Business Registration Division
    The Business Registration Division (BREG) of the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (DCCA) is responsible for processing and maintaining for public access, registrations of corporations, general and limited partnerships, limited liability partnerships, limited liability companies, trade names, trademarks and service marks.

  • Hawaii - Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV)

  • Hawaii - Dept of Agriculture - Standards and Technical Services
    The Standards and Technical Services Section provides the technical assistance and traceablity of standards that make the enforcement of measurement standards laws possible. The branch is made up a metrology laboratory and a petroleum analysis laboratory.

  • Hawaii - Dept. of Commerce & Consumer Affairs, Insurance Division
    This department oversees the Hawaii insurance industry; issues licenses, examines the fiscal condition of Hawaii-based companies, reviews rate and policy filings, investigates insurance related complaints. The Consumer Services Division is responsible for giving general information on insurance, and where you can file a complaint, find out comparative auto premiums & complaint ratios.

  • Hawaii - Public Utilities Commission
    The Public Utilities Commission regulates all franchised or certificated public service companies operating in the State; prescribes rates, tariffs, charges and fees; determines the allowable rate of earnings in establishing rates; issues guidelines concerning the general management of franchised or certificated utility businesses; and acts on requests for the acquisition, sale, disposition or other exchange of utility properties, including mergers and consolidations.

    The Hearing Industries Association (HIA) was formed in 1955 and serves as a forum for hearing aid manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, and hearing health professionals. Our members are responsible for the majority of the over 3 million hearing aids that are purchased in the United States on an annual basis.

  • Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA)
    HLAA provides assistance and resources for people with hearing loss and their families to learn how to adjust to living with hearing loss. HLAA is working to eradicate the stigma associated with hearing loss and raise public awareness about the need for prevention and the importance of regular hearing screenings throughout life.

  • Helen Keller Services for the Blind (HKSB)
    This non-profit agency has many services and programs that help blind people of all ages. It teaches and rehabilitates thousands of residents of Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and Nassau and Suffolk Counties in New York. Information, resources, and HKSB's publications are found online.

  • Home Improvement Branch, (HUD)
    Facts and pitfalls of home improvement. Sources that can help includes: federal loan programs, community-based programs, and consumer information.

  • Housing and Economic Rights Advocates
    HERA is a California statewide, not-for-profit legal service and advocacy organization dedicated to helping Californians — particularly those most vulnerable — build a safe, sound financial future, free of discrimination and economic abuses, especially in the realm of housing. HERA provides free legal services in-person, by phone, fax, or email.

  • Housing Rights Committee of San Francisco
    Housing Rights Committee is a tenants rights organization that offers free counseling for San Francisco tenants in all types of housing, including rent-control, public housing and Section 8.

  • Human Services Information And Referral (Sonoma County)

    Provides information and referrals of available resources within Sonoma County. Bilingual (Spanish-English).
